  • May 2017 Gig Calendar

This will be my final month of Russian residency, continuing my regular Moscow classes in cross-step waltz and American ragtime dance, plus at least one one-shot class in Moscow in nineteenth-century American contradance before I head home.  A couple of other things are in the works and may yet be added to this schedule, so check back as the month goes on!

  • April 2017 Gig Calendar

Continuing my wonderful Russian residency, this month I'll be continuing my regular Moscow classes in cross-step waltz and American ragtime dance as well as making trips to Saint Petersburg and Vladimir to teach ragtime dance in those cities as well!  I'll also have a couple of one-shot classes for Moscow studios in ragtime dance and American Civil War-era contradance.  For Russian-language information and questions about my classes in Russia this spring, please see my VK community.

  • March 2017 Gig Calendar

After a quiet three months of teaching hiatus, I am back on the road this month…but all roads this spring will be Russian ones!  I'll be living in Moscow for the next few months and doing a few weekend events in Russia and Ukraine as well as experimenting with regular weekly classes.  If those listed below go well, then classes will continue once or twice a week through the end of May!  Updated: both cross-step waltz and ragtime classes will continue as subscription courses through the end of May!  PLUS: a nineteenth-century schottische and country dance class added in late March!

  • September 2014 Gig Calendar

Back in the saddle after a very productive (and mostly fun) trip to exciting places in August.  September puts me back into my usual teaching routine with classes in New York, Middletown, and Boston; a dance weekend in Chicago; and a side-trip to Canada for a private workshop and some off-the-grid time!

I'm still working out my class schedule for the rest of this month, but here are the highlights.  Check back for a few new things toward the end of the month.

  • August 2014 Gig Calendar

August is vacation month, for my personal definition of vacation that involves a lot of time spent in libraries and talking about dance history and otherwise geeking out.  This is differs from my normal routine of a lot of time spent in libraries and talking about dance history in that the libraries are located and the conversations and geeking out will occur in exciting foreign countries.

The beginning of the month will have only my routine monthly workshops.  At the end of the month, I have scheduled five days of jet-lagged stupor.  Details of the former:

  • July 2014 Gig Calendar

This month I am staying home and writing a lot (or going somewhere else to alternate writing and swimming) then making one extended research trip before spending most of August far, far away.  Check back for possible added DJ gigs, but don't expect anything else this month.  I am hibernating, socially speaking.

I have so, so, so much to do before I leave that at five-plus weeks out I am already in a pre-trip panic.

  • June 2014 Gig Calendar

After some welcome downtime at home, I'm back on the road in June with two trips each to New York City and Massachusetts, but keeping a light schedule since I have a rather enormous amount of writing to do this month.  A couple more DJ gigs may pop onto the schedule at some point, but here's how it stands for now:

  • May 2014 Gig Calendar

After a perfectly crazy April, I am devoting most of May to staying home and catching up on research and writing as I wind up my fellowship year.  I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, and my cats will be ecstatic!

By some weird coincidence, all of my gigs this month are Regency-era, though I might tag on something else if the opportunity arises.  Here's the calendar:

  • April 2014 Gig Calendar

April is going to be a crazy month for me, with a slow start, then three weeks of near-constant travel to New York, Boston, Chicago, New York (again), and Toronto!  Regency everywhere, a little bit of waltz, blues DJing in Boston, and a fancy dress ball in New York City!
