Coming up in just one short month: an 1880s Victorian Fancy Dress Ball in New Haven, Connecticut! I will be precepting the ball to the lively music of expert dance band Spare Parts. Dances will be a mix of popular couple dances of the 1880s (waltz, polka, galop, schottische) and period quadrilles and contra dances, with some cotillion figures (along these lines, though not that specific one) thrown in for fun.
This will be a fancy dress ball, meaning Victorian ball costumes -- not just evening dress, but dressing up as something/someone. I'll be posting a bunch of information about Victorian fancy dress on the ball site and may repost some of it here as well.
Advance registration for the ball is $25. $30 at the door, $15 for those 21 and under.
Full information about the ball is available on the ball website. Registration opens March 1st. As always, I'd be happy to see Kickery readers there!
Can anyone tell me if there will be a lesson/workshop prior to the ball?
Thank you.

Hi Wendy,
Yes, there will be a pre-ball workshop at the same location from 3:00-5:00pm the afternoon of the ball.
